Avril Lavigne Gets Personal

Avril Lavigne is working on a fourth album with husband Deryck Whibley of Sum 41 and has leaked that this time around, her songs will be more from the heart.
“Life, that’s what this album is about,” Lavigne told Rolling Stone.
She has apparently stripped down the electric guitars and synthesized sound of her previous records, and is working more with acoustic rock. Her vocals are more exposed as well, as a result, and listeners will get a better idea of who Ms. Lavigne is as her clear voice, unaided by production, will be heard, as well as more insightful, personal lyrics.
Lavigne also reported that two tracks on the to-be-titled album, due this November, will be “Everybody Hurts” and “Black Star.” While many of the songs will be softer than her previously driving power-punk, she still nails the hooks on songs like “Darlin’.”
The Ontario native has also used her intended single, “Black Star,” in an advertising campaign that provides the music for her new line of perfume, under the same name.
