Johnny Depp may star alongside Angelina Jolie in the Tourist, reports Variety.
The film is about an American tourist, who Depp would play if he takes the part, who is “drawn into a web of intrigue and danger” by a female Interpot agent, played by Jolie, as she attempts to locate a criminal who was once her lover.
Depp is expected to make his next film with Disney, either the next instalment of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise or the rumoured Lone Ranger.
The film has seen many actors come and go, including Sam Worthington, star of the upcoming Avatar. Director Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck also left the project over creative differences. One of the potential directors rumoured is Alfonso Cuaron, director of the critically acclaimed Y Tu Mama Tambien.
The Tourist is scheduled to start production in February of 2010.
