Jason Segel, of “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” and “How I Met Your Mother” fame, joined the Swell Season onstage for a hilarious piano ballad at the band’s Los Angeles gig.

Segel introduced himself by jokingly reminding the crowd that “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” and “Once,” for which Swell Season won an Academy Award for best song, were released the same year and felt his Count Dracula musical should have been given more Oscar consideration.

“That’s not how things worked out,” Segel said. “It’s very political.”

With Segel at piano and backed by the entire Swell Season ensemble, the actor sang about his wishes to make love with a Swell Season fan, even if it requires using his celebrity status to do so.

“So I went and I asked these guys how to write a beautiful love song,” Segel said prior to his performance. “I think it was Marketa (Irglova) actually who said ‘just write a song from the heart and include as much personal information as you can.’”

Including one’s phone number in the chorus certainly fulfills such criteria; asking female, disease-free audience members to give him a call if they’re interested.
