Matthew Roberts has found out that his father is Charles Manson. Sky News reports that the 41-year-old California man set about a search to find his biological parents, finding that his mother was raped by Manson, resulting in his birth in 1968.
Manson, who infamously orchestrated the murder of Sharon Tate, wife of Roman Polanski, as well as several other people through his Manson Family cult in 1969.
Roberts said that finding out that Manson is his father was like “finding out that Adolph Hitler is your father.” While Roberts bears a physical resemblance to Manson, he says that he hopefully has not inherited any of the traits that made Manson a serial killer.
He started corresponding with Manson, who is still in prison in California. In his letters, which Roberts says is “mostly rambling,” Manson confirmed that he could be his father. Manson also apparently signs all his letters with a swastika. “I don’t want to love him, but I don’t want to hate him, either,” Roberts said.
Manson had another son, Valentine, with a member of the Manson Family. He was placed into an adoptive family following Manson’s arrest.
