Rare collectibles auctioned off last weekend at New York’s Hard Rock Cafe raked in $2 million, reports Rolling Stone. The original goal for the weekend was $120,000 for over 80 items.
Among the items sold included Michael Jackson’s rhinestone-studded glove, which sold to a bidder from Hong Kong for $420,000. The glove was originally expected to go for $40,000 to $60,000.
Other Jackson items up on the auction block included the fedora he wore when he kissed then-wife Lisa Marie Presley at the 1995 MTV awards, a drawing the singer made of Charlie Chaplin, and a cartoon the singer drew of Mickey Mouse on the cover of Bad.
Items from other artists also drew in bidders. A check Madonna wrote in 1988 went for several hundred dollars. Buddy Holly’s social security card was also up for an estimated $400 to $600.
