Russia blames the train crash which killed 26 people, and injured an estimate of a 100 passengers in Moscow, as the result of a terrorist attack that set off a bomb on the railway, on Friday, according to guardian.co.uk.
Alexander Bortnikov, head of Russia’s FSB counter-terrorism agency said the bomb was hidden on the railway between the cities Moscow and St. Peterburg, and that officers located pieces of the device.
“We need there to be no chaos, because the situation is tense as it is,” Russia’s president, Dmitry Medvedev told Russian TV.
“The first wagon was 1-5-2kms away from the rest of the train. The second had completely flipped over. The third had come off the rails, but was near the main part of the train and was still standing vertically.
As far as I know nobody from this wagon was seriously hurt,” Boris Gruzd, one of the survivor’s told radio station Ekho Moskvy.
