Drake Bell "Telegraph"

CD Reviews Share
Although he's got teen and “tween” girls drooling over his poster on their bedroom wall, this young musician has so much to offer to the music world. People may be drooling over his music, but it's not because of his handsome looks, and his on-screen character. This guy has serious talent. His guitar playing is something to drool over.

This album was a make it or break it thing for Bell. It was his break out into the music world. People knew who he was, people knew he was a “music guy,” but could he play, and more importantly would music fans accept him as a legit musician? The answers to those questions are YES and YES!

“Telegraph” is one of the best debut albums I've heard. Although I will admit to being one of those people that drool over Drake Bell, it's not because of his on-screen personality, it's because of his music. It's because of this album.

This kid can play the guitar, he can sing, and he has incredible influences. He gets his style from The Beatles, The Beach Boys, and Elvis Presley, and puts this modern twist on it. There are songs on this album like, “Somehow” that when they pop up on shuffle I have to stop everything I'm doing and just listen.

People get so busy and rush around so much that we forget to just enjoy the things we love. This album makes me just stop everything and just listen, just enjoy the one thing I love the most in life, music. And I appreciate that about Bell. I appreciate that about this CD.

It reminds me why I love music, it reminds me why I love instrumental, and lyric writing. Not only can the kid play a killer guitar, he's incredibly talented at writing songs. He knows how to pull at listeners heart strings. He knows how to get their attention with one word, with one guitar chord, with the intensity of his voice. It's amazing. It's what music is about. It's as simple as that. This album is why people love music the way they do.
