Although GoDaddy.com girl Danica Patrick will not be racing in the Daytona 500 on Sunday, she performed well enough in her ARCA debut over the weekend to guarantee a spot for herself in this Saturday’s Nationwide Series race.
Patrick, who was featured in two separate commercials for the popular domain name website GoDaddy.com on Super Bowl Sunday, finished sixth in her first ARCA race and her performance has influenced her to go through with competing in the Nationwide Series race this weekend.
Kelley Earnhardt, who is the co-owner of the GoDaddy.com car, expressed encouragement over Patrick’s performance at ARCA by telling the media, “Danica proved to everyone she can compete in stock cars at a high level, and right now seat time is extremely important. She has worked extremely hard during the past two months for this opportunity. Her dedication and work ethic is infectious."
The GoDaddy.com girl announced in a press release on Monday that she had made the decision to race on Saturday and that performing in the Nationwide Series was her primary goal throughout her preparation process. Patrick’s crew chief, Tony Eury Jr., was initially opposed to the idea of Patrick making the jump to the Nationwide Series but he quickly changed his tune after her performance at ARCA. According to ESPN.com, Patrick’s most prominent sponsor, GoDaddy.com, fully supports her decision to race at Saturday’s Nationwide Series.
